Biography

Jenney Surelia is one of the new generation of Tango dancers and has committed herself to getting people to dance with a clear & structured approach to Tango. She discovered Tango in Paris in 1999 and for her it was love at first dance.

"It was the relationship between two people when dancing, and the music that did it. No words, just movement. A very subtle communication that isn't one's first instinct to tap into, but once you do, everything is there for you to see or moreover dance..."

She returned to London, began to teach in 2005. "For me, dancing Tango socially isn't about flashy show-style moves, and complicated learnt routines, this is dancing for other people, it's about connecting to your partner and seeing where that relationship leads you. If you dance simply but in a connected way, using the music, then this is Tango."

Jenney travels regularly to Buenos Aires, training and delving deeper into the dance. Her philosophy of understanding Tango's structure & quality of movement, music & culture is paramount and her aim is to pass this on to her students, presenting it in an understandable context for eager Tango dancers.
